Simply put, it means that the sitter is interested in looking after your dog.
Sitters using the the DogBuddy mobile apps can browse through dogs in their local area. We show them a profile containing some basic information about your dog (e.g. description, breed, age, fertility, and medical conditions) so that the sitter can select if your pooch matches the kind of dogs they’re keen to look after.
Don’t worry, we only show more private information such as vet or insurance details when you send a sitter a booking request.
Dogs are visible to sitters by default, even if you haven’t sent any requests lately. This will mean that you may get some spontaneous interest from sitters you may not have discovered directly yourself. You can manage your dog’s visibility settings anytime through the dog profile, setting them to ‘visible’ or ‘hidden’.
If you have sent requests to sitters recently, we also highlight some basic details of your request (eg. the dates) on your dog’s profile so local sitters can see that you’re searching for a sitter. If you have an active request, we only aim to show your dog to local sitters who are available on those dates.
When sitters express interest in taking care of your dog, we notify you by email and with push notifications. These sitters are also automatically added to your Sitter Wish List, so you can easily find them next time you need to book a sitter.
You can manage your notification settings anytime through your Account (in apps and website). If your dog is getting too many likes, you can either manage your notifications to choose email or push notifications only, or simply set your dog to ‘hidden’ from their profile.
Some common questions about dog likes
-
Can I hide my dog so it’s not visible to sitters? Of course! You just need to set your dog’s visibility to ‘hidden’ in your dog’s profile.
-
I’m currently looking for a dog sitter and some sitters that I did not contact have liked my dog. Does this mean they are available? When you have an active booking request (eg. you’ve sent a message or made a Direct Booking that has not yet been confirmed), sitters will see this in your dog’s profile. We do our best to only show your dog to available sitters on the given dates - we can’t guarantee that the sitter is available, so it’s best to send them a booking request.
-
Can I disable getting push notifications or emails when someone likes my dog? Yes, of course! All you need to do is access your account notification settings (from the mobile app or website) and deselect the option to receive push notifications or emails when sitters like your dog.
